Baliyatra (ବାଲିଯାତ୍ରା ) is celebrated from Kartika Purnima in Cuttack, Odisha. This trading festival continues for more than 7 days as permission is taken from the local authorities. This festival is celebrated to remember those days when the Odisha traders (ସାଧବ ପୁଅ ) traded in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Bali Jatra starts from the Kartika Purnima and continues for up to 7 to 15 days as per the permission of the local administration. Local administration manages all the arrangements. The open trade fair is organized at Gadagadia Ghat, Cuttack, and is also supposed to be the biggest open trade fair in Asia. Normally people visit the yatra in the afternoon to late at night.

On Kartika Purnima, when Bali Jatra Started, another ritual was celebrated called Boita Bandana. People of Odisha get up early in the morning and take a holy birth and go to the water bodies like ponds and rivers and float small boats made up of paper or banana stems reciting the odia song Aa ka Ma Boi, Gua Pana thoi, gua pana tora, Masa jakara dharm mora. This ritual is celebrated to remember the trade culture of Odia Sadhaba Pua.
So before the inauguration of Bali Jatra the Boita Bandana rituals were held on. A Boita (boat), worships with diya (bandana) and sails in the river Mahanadi.

As this is the trade fair, various stalls are found there. Stalls of handlooms, handicrafts, and entrepreneurs from various states are the main tourist attractions of Bali Jatra. People of Odisha waited throughout the year to buy different household items from the fair.
