Danu Sankranti is a festival celebrated all over India. But the way of celebration may differ from state to state. In Odisha, the celebration is very special with Dhanu Muan and Dhanu Yatra.

DHANU SANKRANTI SIGNIFICANCE
Hindu Calendar Sankranti Purnima and Amavasya
As per Hindu Calendar, there are twelve Sankranti in a year. Dhanu sankranti is the ninth sankranti among the twelve. There is one Sankranti in one month. The last day of a month is known as Purina and the first day is known as pratipada. The month started from pratipada (the day after Purnima) and ends on Purnima. Purnima is the full moon day. The no moon day is known as Amavasya. It falls middle of the month. According to the Hindu calendar in a month there are 30 days.
According to Hindu mythology from Dhanu Sankranti Sun enters into Sagittarius sun sign (Dhanu Rasi).
DHANU SANKRANTI IN SREE MANDIRA
On Srikshetra Puri there is the special significance of Dhanu Sankranti. From Dhanu Sankranti Pahili bhog offered to Jagannath Balavadra and Subhadra.
According to Sreemandira parampara Mata Laxmi visited her Parents on this day for one month. So the bhog now prepared by the mother which before was prepared by Maa Laxmi, the wife of Lord Jagannath.
The Pahili bhoga offered to Gods from Dhanu Sankranti to Makara Sankranti for one month. Delicious cakes, grams, and sweet dishes served to Gods which prepared by their mother known as Pahili Bhoga.
DHANU MUAN
Like other festivals in Odisha in this festival, there is also a special dish prepared and offered to the Goddess known as Dhanu Muan.
Dhanu Muan prepared from puffed rice with Jaggery and coconut slices. and different flavourful masalas added to it. It is a sweet dish.
DHANU YATRA IN BARAGADA
From this day there is an open stage drama started known as Dhanu Yatra. It was performed in Baragad Odisha. It continues for 11 days.
Dhanu Yatra is the biggest open stage drama in the world.
This drama is based on the life story of Lord Krishna. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krisna is the human avatar of Lord Vishnu who take birth in Dwapar Yug in the city Mathura and was brought up in Gopapura.
So in the open stage drama, Baragad city becomes Mathura, and nearby village Ambapalli becomes Gopapura.
The main aim of Lord Krishna is to save people from his cruel uncle Kansh. At last on Dhanu Yatra Lord Krishna visited to Mathura, killed his uncle Kansh. The total story about to celebrate the victory of good over the evil.
