How it is celebrated

On the Sunday morning of Bhadrab month, all young girls' wake up early morning in a rural area of Odisha. As it is a holiday so girls' busy the whole day with this festival. They collected various flowers here and there and then tied them with various designs which looks very beautiful. There are different puja mandaps in one village where this puja is celebrated. So There is a kind of competition between the puja mandaps. So all tried to collect more flowers to decorate their own puja mandap beautifully.

Then they clean the puja mandap, it may be someone's veranda or maybe the worship place village Goddess(Gram Devi Mandira). Then the group of girls goes to take a bath in the village pond. There they also do a ritual called Baluka stapana in the local language after they completing their bath.

Now it may be 12 pm of the day, they go to the puja mandap with some kind of fruits for prasad. They offer it to the goddess. Girls also wear new clothes at this festival, but it's not compulsory.
