TAPOI STORY | TAPOI KHUDURUKUNI OSHA 2022 DATES

Tapoi story is a folker which is recited in the khudurukuni osha. It's the tale of a poor girl and how she struggled with her life.

 Khudurukuni is a traditional festival of Orissa, this festival is celebrated by unmarried girls, along nowadays girls have started to keep this festival even after marriage, then there is a myth about this festival, an old story, a very beautiful old story about this. Nowadays it is important for you to know about this, now if people know this old story, then you will like it very much. 

 The first day of khudurukuni is celebrated on 14th August 2022. Then every Sunday Of Vadrav month will be celebrated as khudurukuni osha.

Who is Tapoi

This is a story from a very old time. On an island, there was a king by the name of Tildwaj. He was a very pious king. All the subjects of his kingdom are very happy and the king used to raise the subjects like their own children. 

In the same state, there was a merchant named Tanayabant, his wife's name was Shakuntala, He had 7 sons and only one daughter. The daughter's name was Taapoi. Due to being the only daughter, everyone loved her very much and whatever she asked for, all her demands were fulfilled immediately. One day after playing outside she came back home and got angry, then her mother asked her what happened but she didn't answer anything. She did not give any response and went and sat in a dark room in anger. Then all the members of the house asked her one by one what happened but she did not give any answer. In the last, her dearest sister-in-law, younger sister-in-law Nilendri, started asking her again and again. She told, "I want a moon of gold". All the people of his family became very happy. Why for such a small thing, what is the need to get so angry. If we would have said it like this, then we would have got it made immediately. Started making love to her and then feed her food and drink.

TAAPOI LOST HER PARENTS

Then the work of making her moon started, the goldsmith came to the house and started working, as soon as the moon was half ready, then his father died, and then as soon as the moon was completed, mother died. There was a lot of crying in the house, then all the programs were over.

After that, the time came for those people to go to business, seven brothers went for business and all the sister-in-law and Tapoi remained in the house. according to the brothers' words,  sister-in-laws used to take great care of Tapoi, loved her a lot, also used to serve her a lot. She used to swing on a swing every day. One day a poor woman came there to beg, then kept asking there but no one paid any attention to her. Was engaged in Tapio's service, then at this time the eyes of the poor woman went to the swing, where Tapoi was sitting and swinging. Then she got very angry after seeing her, then her sister-in-law started working OK that you guys are in vain. Why are you serving her like this, when her brothers will come, she will beat you again by speaking bad and good about you, and then after marrying and going away? Then what will you get again, after hearing all this, her sister-in-law lost her mind, she said. 

      It is right, why should we serve her in vain, then they removed her from the swing and invited the poor woman inside So that those engaged in her service, feed her good food and drink, then she went away happily, and then the bad day of Tapoi started.

TAPOI IN THE JUNGLE

They started torturing Tapoi, did not give her anything to eat or something nice to wear. In the end, they started sending her for goat herding to the forest. The poor girl had no other way,  took the goat to the Jungle throughout the day, then brought the goat at night also they did not give her anything to eat even when she returned to the house, they were giving soil to her with salt in the food. But she used to get good food on the day of her younger sister-in-law's turn. She used to get good food on that day. Day by day passing away. who earlier had lived a life like a princess, today she has become devastated. 

Like every day, she had gone to the forest to graze the goat, it was raining a lot that day, it was night and it was very dark. One goat named Gharamani was missing, which was the favorite pet of her elder sister-in-law.  Even after searching a lot, she could not find  Gharamani. So she was forced to come home. When her elder sister-in-law went and saw that Ghahramani was not there in the house, then she beat her a lot and then sent to the forest to find Gharamani. She spent the whole night in the same dark forest but she could not find the goat. She went far away in the dense forest and cried all night. It was morning in the forest, she went to search Gharamani and find some girls were worshiping, then she asked them which Puja is this. So those girls told that it belongs to mother Khudurukuni.

Then the girls explained about the Pooja. In this worship, offerings of broken rice and snacks are offered. This worship is done only by unmarried girls, what you will ask for mother Goddess, the mother will fulfill your wish, After hearing all this, Taapoi came to believe that she worshiped the mother with all her heart. By the grace of mother Khudurukuni, she got Gharamani. Then she came back home with Gharmani, early in the morning, when her elder sister-in-law saw Gharamani was there and Taapoi is sleeping on the floor, then she threatened her and tell her that she should go to the forest to graze.

 For on such a day, the day, month, and year passed away. Taapoi always used to cry in the forest.

TAPOI WORSHIPS MAA KHUDURUKUNI TO BRING BACK HER BROTHERS SOON

Then when the month of Bhadrav came, she saw that the girls again started worshiping the mother Khudurukuni. Tapoi thought in her mind that if I got Gharamani, by worshiping Khudurukuni, then she would definitely make me meet with my brother. Thinking that she worshiped her mother with a big heart.

   Mother's grace came within a few days when her brother's boat came to the seashore. They heard the sound of crying of a girl, towards the dense forest at the night. Then the youngest brother entered the forest to see who was crying. Saw that their sister Tapoi was crying. then the girl looked at the brother and started crying loudly. Then the brother was very astonished after finding her sister in such a condition, asked what happened. Then the girl told the whole incident to her brother. Then both came to the boat and told all things to the other brothers.  Brothers got very angry, they said to Tapoi that you go inside the temple in this boat, hold a knife in your hand, the one who loves you, you will have to leave her. The one torched you cut her nose. Then the girl went inside the temple.  Mother Mangla's statue was there inside the temple. Then the girl went under her shelter. Now the news was sent to the house, all said that all the daughters-in-law came near the boat to worship with Tapoi. Then the sister-in-laws started wondering her. They didn't find her. Then the elder sister-in-law said that let's go, I will convince the brothers. Then they all went to the seashore.

 When they reached near the boat, the brothers said that  Mother Mangala is there in the temple of the boat. First, worship her then we people worshiped. First of all the 6 elder daughter-in-law went to worship the temple one by one. When she reached the temple, the girl inside the temple took her name. Then she was cut their nose one by one. They entered the forest crying and crying, one by one.  In the end, the most beloved sister-in-law was her younger daughter-in-law, arrived. Then Taapoi threw the knife and hugged her.  Then Tapoi, younger daughter-in-law, and brothers worshiped the boat together and came home and started living happily.

After some days brothers started searching groom for Tapoi.
